The Onion News reported today that You Tube was having a contest for users asking them to post an actually entertaining video… or as they phrased one… a video that did not totally suck.

 

I do not know if they were thinking about the hamster eating popcorn video we referred to in an earlier post but my guess is that this is an example of the genre they were referencing when they thought of the contest. The rule and suggestions included “Try making a video for a reason other than you have a video camera ” and “Try making the video when sober”.

 

The shape of things to come… actual entertainment on You Tube instead of the regular porn links, tragic accident videos, and  bizarre rodent escapades.

So I’ve made some half hearted attempts to to keep a blog going. The most notable was the CrapCo News a couple of years ago but that was less of a blog and more of a satire news site. I have never have just jotted down (can you jot electronicly ?) (is that how you spell electronically?) random thoughts and observations. Possibly at my age I don’t have enough self absorbtion to maintain such a project but I’m going to try.

 

So in preparation for blogging I looked around to see what oter people write about. I ran across a site through a link at Wordpress to a site called PerezHilton.com that said it was about clebrity gossip and had photos of famous people quite a few of whom I never heard of. (Adrienne Bailon of the Cheetah Girls??) (remember I’m old…)

 

Anyway there was a link there that said “Click on this” 3 times. (not “click on this three times” but three different “Click in this” links) I assumed it was very important clebrity gossip and so of course I clicked (one time) and went here and found a You Tube video of a hamster laying on his back on some piano keys eating a piece of popcorn. Someone also had enough money and free time to write and arrange the “Hamster on a Piano” theme song and orchestrate it and then pay Alvin the Chipmonk to do the vocals. Quite strange to me but then as I said … I’m old.

 

I think the experience was summed for me best by a comment there that said “theres one minute of my life i’ll never get back ” . Amen.
