So I was going to be writing the interesting and entertaining web diary full of wit and wisdom and cutting edge insight. “When does THAT start” you might ask. Who knows? I know I’m having fun designing the template for the site… kind of a messy lived in notebook kind of feel. If anyone is interested in the template by the way let me know and I can get you a copy of the notebook format. You’ll have to pick another name even if it is called the Whatever theme.

 

So in the news today… death, terror, recession/depression… crime is up and the stock market is down. “The Bush Legacy”… or would lunacy fit better. I saw the movie “W” recently and like most Oliver Stone movies it was entertaining and most likely a mix of fiction with enough facts to make you wonder if the fiction is true. It paints a picture of a pretty much lazy and inneffective George W. Bush trying like hell to impress George Daddy Bush while being manipulated by DIck Cheney who is painted as the ultimate imperialist trying to conquor the world for the safety of the US.

 

I think (hope) Barak Obama is the start of a different mindset for this country. The idea of Fort America hiding behind a nuclear shield and using our military to dictate terms to the rest of the world is not going to cut it in the future. The concept of an isolationist country surviving in an increasing global economy is ridiculous. And with the advent of of easy infomration exchange through media like the internet it’s becoming increasingly difficult for businesses and governments to hide what they are doing. 

 

Consequently it seems the days of Nike buiding plants overseas to make sneakers they sell for $100 plus while paying the workers a dollar an hour (that’s the managers of course) are part of history.
One can hope anyway.
